What is a residence permit?

   Residence permit (TRP) in Azerbaijan is an official document that allows a foreigner to reside in Azerbaijan for a long period of time, move freely throughout the country, and also provides free entry/exit.

Legal grounds for obtaining a TRP based on family ties

   According to the Migration Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a foreign national may obtain a residence permit on family grounds in the following cases:

   1. Having a family relationship with a citizen of Azerbaijan.
   Family members include: spouse, children, parents, siblings, children of siblings, brother/sister of a spouse, parents of a spouse, grandparents, parents of grandparents, grandchildren.

   2. Having family members who temporarily or permanently reside in Azerbaijan
   In this case, family members include: spouse; minor children; adult disabled children; dependent parents.

Procedure for obtaining a residence permit based on family ties

   The required set of documents include:

   – Application form
   – 
Copy of passport;
   – 
Document confirming family relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption documents, etc.);
   – 
Photograph (3 × 4 cm);
   – 
Other supporting documents (additional details may be required depending on the case).

   The application can be submitted via the official online portal of the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan or through the nearest ASAN Service Center.
   If approved, the applicant will be granted a Temporary Residence Permit for legal stay in Azerbaijan.
