Registration upon place of temporary stay in Azerbaijan is mandatory for all foreign citizens. In my recent article “Registration upon place of living”, I briefly described what is registration upon place of living in Azerbaijan, what documents are needed and where to apply.
Now, let’s figure out what is registration upon stay?
What is place of stay?
In practice, the difference between place of living and place of stay is not always obvious, sometimes these are the same objects, accomodations. The distinction is made according to the period of residence, documents certifying registration.
Place of residence – is a temporary address where a citizen (mainly foreing citizen) lives, which is not his place of residence (registration).
It can be: hotel, sanatorium, rest house, boarding house, camp site, a hospital and other similar public places, as well as a residential building or apartments.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons temporarily staying in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days must be registered at the place of stay.
Good to know: Citizens of Kazakhstan can stay in Azerbaijan for 30 days without registration.
How to register upon place of stay?
To register upon the place of stay in Azerbaijan, you need to contact the regional migration departments or ASAN Service centers.
You can also use the electronic services of the State Migration Service or send an e-mail to qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az.
To register at the place of stay in Azerbaijan the following documents are required:
– Application form;
– Copy of the passport (including pages with visas and indicating the last entry into the country).
Foreigners and stateless persons are registered on the following terms:
– persons, arriving on visa basis – for a period, specified in visa;
– persons, arriving on visa free basis – no longer than 90 days.
No state duty for registration at the place of stay should be payed!
Good to know: When you change the place of stay in Azerbaijan, you must register at the new place of stay within 5 working days from the date of arrival at the new place of stay.
Responsibility for violation of
Rules of registration upon place of stay
Don’t remember to register in time!
Because failure to register upon place of stay (and place of living also) within the required period is a basis for administrative liability.
If foreigner is not registered upon place of stay, or has violated the rules for registration and re-registration, then he may be fined in the amount of 300 up to 400 manats and possibly deported (Article 575.1.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Azerbaijan).
